Following the recent announcement that Brother UK would support the Tour of Britain and Women’s Tour for a tenth season of competition in 2023, our first Meet the Partner profile for the year is with Managing Director of Brother UK Phil Jones MBE.

Brother UK  remain the official print and results partner and continue to serve as presenting partner of the green zones in both the Women’s Tour and Tour of Britain, the latter of which starts in Manchester, the company’s home city, on Sunday 3 September.

Q: How long have you been a partner with The Tours for?
A: Brother UK have been a partner with SweetSpot for ten years now.

Q: What interested you about these events to partner?
A: There is a strong link between the demographic of people who participate in, and are actively supporting road cycling, and who specifies and buys our products; so it seemed an obvious place for us to enhance our other marketing activities with branding in the sport. Due to the nationwide profile of the two flagship races, plus the Tour Series, television coverage and digital reach, the partnership delivers very good value for money with high audience touch relative to investment costs when compared to other sports.

Q: Tell us more about Brother UK and business priorities for 2023? Who should partners contact for printing needs?
A: We are the UK arm of the global Brother group, responsible for the sales, marketing and support within the printing business domain. We manufacture computer printers primarily with applications from a single device in a home office right the way through to high volume office devices. We also have a range of labelling devices used across multiple applications. We have around one-million active users of our products at any time in the UK and our focus is to promote our subscription businesses and also our specialist print solutions for vertical markets.

Anyone can contact me if they have a requirement for multiple devices, if it’s a single unit then better to use one of our established partners in the channel or via the web.

Q: What are your interests and hobbies outside of work?
A: I’ve got a few interests ranging from riding bikes, attending soul weekenders, American Football, reading, public speaking and listening to music.

Q: Who would be your top five celebrity guests to a dinner party?
A: I assume that everyone has to be living, so the names that came to mind for an eclectic evening were:

  1. Jamiroquai – to talk about cars and music
  2. Berry Gordy – Founder of Motown Records
  3. Oprah Winfrey – She’s interviewed some of the most important people on the planet
  4. Angela Merkel – One of the most significant global political figures of the last 20 years
  5. Phillipa York – To talk bike racing and life journeys
